Disabled but still active.
I haven't worked in 10 years because of degenerative disc disease. But I've done volunteer work. How can I break back into the workforce, or time of course, after being out for so long. And being 60 years old ?

I haven't worked in nine months because I quit my job at Amazon just to be with my first love a Caucasian woman I was 49 years old then and now that I am 50 years old I want to go back to work and no luck finding a job. I am now feeling so hopeless and having low self-esteem about job interview. I never feel like this before! Please Help! My girlfriend told me to get a job at McDonald's...Please help why do I feel so low and so depressed.

That's a hard one, I've had 2 strokes and 5 congested heart failures and the last year I've been diagnosed with sarcoidosis of the lungs so for me it's a little more difficult to start over. I'm confident that if you try to you will succeed.

Is there any chance of getting a job in the field where you were volunteering? There are also customer service jobs out there that you can even do from home. Good luck!

Hi Chris, I'm not disabled but I'm also a Senior I've been struggling to find a job for almost 3 years. Have you tried the AARP? they sometime list jobs for seniors? Also Goodwill and the Salvation army maybe able to help you. Also where you have gaps on your resume include/list your volunteering (if you haven't already) company and time frame.
I would try your local Goodwill. Some them are affiliated with CSEP, a senior employment training program for anyone 55 and older. You get hired part time(20 hours per week), and you receive necessary job skills training. Once you've successfully completed the CSEP program, you can receive job placement in the community:at government agencies or community centers. Excellent for someone returning to the work force!
