How should I customize my resume for a job fair?

functional, chronological, or other??, I’m planning to attend a job fair next week and I don’t know how I can arrange my resume to stand out among multiple recruiters representing various service industries.

Alex, You may want to have a couple of customizations. For example, if you have skills in project management, process engineering and environmental health and safety, put together separate resumes which primarily highlight the skill set for the job being posted or advertised. Don't remove your other skills or misrepresent yourself, but showcase yourself in a way that instantly makes your background attractive to whomever you speak. Work history should always be chronological. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!

Have not read the other posts...but... I suggest... (a) Identify a FEW employers you will WANT to work with, (b) identify open positions with those companies, (c) create a CUSTOMIZED resume for each position desired by including only common or RELEVANT portions of your work history in each resume (mention but minimize less-relevant roles) - include the job title and job number AS your objective, (d) identify the person / people attending the job fair - or your prospective manager for the company, (e) BRIEFLY introduce yourself and ask for a moment to express your interest, (f) mention your specific interest in (position, including a job number on the posting), and (g) indicate your availability for continued discussions. 1 minute of QUALITY time will be remembered by the recruiter MUCH more positively than anything else. Get the recruiter's card and email address. Thank the recruiter in person. Follow up with a thank you email that same day; in it, refresh the recruiter's memory by mentioning certain aspects of your conversation that make you memorable; ask for the opportunity to continue the selection process. Wait for the recruiter to follow up with you. Good Luck!

I simply go with a standard format ,but then again ,it does simply depend what type of job your applying for. Keep it informative ,Short, and get to the point ,employers scan a resume they don't read them ,use keywords that stand out ,eye catchers, I say. Good Luck hope you get the job.

Simple - You need to have several versions, each highlighting specific job categories; e.g., if one category of job is supervisory, do a resume as if you're applying for that and so on.

Chronological. Your recent position in the beginning of your resume. Start with your name, objective and then skills then jobs from your most recent one and work your way down to your education. And do it in bullet points in short sentences not paragraphs. Ex: Responsible for all aspects of support to the CFO etc. etc. Also, once your done with your resume, update your linkedin account with the same information, It has to mirror your resume. . Example: Alex Smith Dallas TX Objective Skills Job information Education
