Event Planner

I've been out of work for 2 years due to moving out of state and getting my family situated. In the meantime I have been a Property Manager for my rental properties. I'm extremenly anxious and ready to return to work. My obstacle is a cover letter. I'm having writer's block and am wondering what resources have been used by others in the past.

Kelly said it all, and I would also add that property manager position as well (it's work and it's experience) that will take up the 2 year gap so you don't have to explain it and if it's out of the filed your are seeking you can say you wish to move in another direction.

Sourcing Recruiter at Jobcase

Hi Sonja, Ah.. writers block...I understand that struggle (and I write everyday!) I think some important things to keep in mind when writing a cover letter are as follows:

  1. Contact Information. To begin your cover letter, include both the employer's and your contact information.
  2. Introduction. Find out to whom you're writing ...it makes a difference than a generic "to whom it may concern".
  3. Sell Yourself. The second paragraph should respond directly to the job description written by the hiring manager. Don't go too much into detail but enough to highlight maybe 3 core qualifications/ achievements. 4.Conclusion. Clean and concise. A thank you in advance and final expression of interest to leave the "impression" open for further discussion. Good luck!
