I need to help her!!
My younger sister has been working at Lowe's for over a year and loved her job but then they laid her off. Is there anyone else that has been laid off? I am not sure what advice to give her. I am a truck driver and we never seem to run out of work. I know she is feeling down and I wish I could help her more. Any ideas???

Doesnt help her with a job but she should be able to draw unemployment until she finds something else can she drive try to get her on where u work if she likes that or states usually have temporary companies until she can find something more permanent.

Does your sister have backup jobs at all? Having a backup job should be able to ease her mind a little bit. I have been laid off but I had a job to back me up and I was able to make another job happen 2 days later.

Hey Caroylyn, I have to say, Heeeey! To you for being a truck driver! Ok, Lowes must be finding themselves with too many employees, either with idle time, or some other human dilemma. It is sooo not kind that coampanies get to lay people off? Not like she has a RENT to pay, no GROCERYS, I am sure no BILLS EITHER!!! YAY for these morons that hire, then have to let go because of their own inept mangement.

That’s very sweet that you care. The bigger question is, what are her thoughts, her ideas and her plans?

This happens to many of us, need to think positive at all times to push good vibes out and apply like crazy.

Search for a job and loan her some money to help out.

First make a trip to the Unemployment Office and get signed up. Look for jobs that interest you. Work on improving your skills. Try Temp agencies, UPS, Fed-ex and Amazon are all hiring right now, Attend job fairs in your area.

Marketability is the key word. In today's world, you have to continue improving and build on your skills by getting additional education or going to a trade school. I know everyone doesn't have access close to a Amazon but they are hiring. Write your existing skills down and apply them elsewhere. Don't be complacent once you are employed again... continue to build on you by getting additional skills or education.

Check this out. Hopefully this will help. This is what happened to me : Well I was not layed by Lowes. I had resigned under duress. The store manager told me that he was not going to make me a full time employee with no explanation as to why. I had been with Lowes as a part time permanent employee for over 2 years. Attendence record was not bad. No real complaints from customers. Was recognized by various deparment managers for my performance. I always struved to be diligent in helping customers. Being the fact that I was living in temporary housing and pay was inconsistent due to my status. Also with no full time benefits could not adequately take care of my health needs. Though fortunate enough to be healthy. Therefore with absolutely no future as a full time employee I was forced to quit.
tell her to stay positive, support her, take her experience in the departments she worked at, at Lowe's and go to Home Depot, Walmart or ant other DIY store stressing her experience but above all stay positive
