Sales

Hired for greeter position, then told to be a lot attendent for the winter. Hours cut in half Christmas week. Did 110 percent in half the time. Was given pink slip 5 weeks ago. Asked why, employer said,"Obama care was squeezing her." Then tried to recant. Unemployment? Still waiting...Rights for who?

Deborah, I'm sorry to hear of your troubke. I too are going through hard and very rough times. There are places that will help you. HELPING HANDS, THERE A PLACE IN YOUR AREA THAT WILL PAY YOUR LIGHT BILL ( WEOC - in my area ) - Some Churches have food drives - where once every 2 weeks they give good to the needy. Helping hands also give food and clothes and etc. - I'm turning off my Hot Water Heater until I need to use it, making sure I don't leave anything on even the stove light - I keep just about everything turned off at my Breaker box - last month lights were $56. Also, there food stamps depends on ur income. Talk to people in your Church they will or might know of other programs that will help you.

Hi Deborah, Sorry to hear about your situation, but it is unfortunately not that uncommon nowadays. I spoke with a store manager who said the same thing, that because of Obamacare, they were only hiring part-time and seasonal workers. If companies hire more than 50 full-time workers, then they are obligated to follow requirements under ACA. If they only hire part-time or independent contract workers, then they are not eligible under ACA. So, this is why many small businesses are not wanting to hire many full-time workers, or only want to hire contract workers, so that if business is slow, they can easily cut hours or discontinue contracts. And, in states that follow hiring "at will" businesses do not have to give you a reason to terminate you. As far as unemployment benefits, not everyone is eligible for unemployment. So, you may want to talk to someone at the Dept of Labor about whether or not you are eligible for those benefits. Good luck with hopefully finding another job.

Hi Deborah, I was in a pretty much same situation as you. I got let go from my job and filed for unemployment, I'm a single mother of 5, it's been 3months and I have not received anything from unemployment.

I don't know what believes you are, but as for me, with Faith, Prayer and of coarse help from family and friends, things will work out. Keep the faith. God closes one door and opens another.

Ugh, I'm so sorry Deborah! It's unfortunate that companies are needing to downsize due to costs. I hope your stuff goes through soon! I was told once that unemployment can take several weeks.
