Table rent

Many of us vendors pay table or some kind of venue rent. There are many places to sell, such as kiosks and bulletin boards. I'd be interested in hearing from people who are vendors or friends of vendors, how to sell in public inexpensively. I'll start, I sold arts and crafts in farmer's markets for a few years. It was cheaper than the rent at craft fairs, but didn't yield much profit. Made friend with some farm-folk, though! :)

Hi Valerie: Interesting convo! I had a friend who sold beautiful jewelry at craft fairs, and this was her top complaint. Some craft fairs would charge crazy vendor fees simply because they were so popular. She was always worried that she wouldn't make enough of a profit. One thing she did to up her sales was to get a free card reader for her smart phone (I think she used something from Paypal). Her sales went through the roof when she gave people the option to pay with credit/debit cards, rather than just cash.
