NO COMPETE AGREEMENT
I need help understanding the no-compete agreement in the state of Texas. I was told that in this state, nobody can prevent you from making a living. If so, why do companies insist on employees signing this document? Pease educate me on this!!!

Typically it means you can't go to work for a competitor, or compete in the same industry for a period of time (the length of the non-compete). You can work, but not in that industry. You can go to court, but typically businesses have more money than individuals.
