Cover letter and Salary History

I have 2 questions with issues that I am currently struggling with...any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

  1. When the employers says "cover letters without salary information will not be accepted" how do you address that. I don't want to price myself out of a job but I don't want to waste there time either. Does this sound ok " My salary requirements are negotiable at or above $50,000" or "My minimum salary requirement is $50,000."

  2. I'm filling out a job application and one of the questions is usually "what was my salary". Now for example my salary was $65k but I know this job has a pay range of $45-50k. Have I already lost out because of the discrepancy in pay? I've been out of work several years and I'm reinventing myself but I don't want to mess myself up before I can get a foot in the door. HELP!

Hi Claudette, My advice, for you, would be to, re-update your resume, and while you are doing that, recreate your image, meaning, make sure, that the resume, you're sending out, shows the true you, and lets the prospective employer know, that, they are getting exactly what they are looking for. You must make your resume, Pop, like a firecracker, in order for someone to seriously, consider it. What does this mean, it will help you determine, what your salary requirements are, when prompted by the prospective employer. A couple of questions for you could be, do you have any managerial experience, like, leading a team, during a project, have you trained someone, at your previous job, what were your responsibilities at your previous employer. All of these things, listed above, will help you, zero in on, what your salary will be at you new job. I say this, with the hopes that, by the time, they finish reading your resume, they will know, exactly, what they will offer you, at the time of the offer. Good Luck, with the Job Search, and, Remember, Don't Sell Yourself Short.

Weigh out your options.sometimes u may have to lower your salary just to get your foot in the door.Im not saying lower your standards. Will negotiate salary cap if applicable. Means you are willing to negotiate. Good luck.

Hi Claudette! It all depends! Can you make it with a salary between $35,000 to $50,000 a year? If you can't then don't take it! But if you can make it and has the chance to grow your salary? Then I say "take it"! It would be foolish to pass on something that you can grow in. But look around, look @ your family and the other factors that guides your life. But you also has to look @ your morals and values does that job line up with what you believe in. So the decision is going to be yours hard but if you are observant all will be okay! Hope This Helps! Good Luck!
