I wanted to quit, but instead I got fired!
I recently got out of a toxic job that was BAD, BAD, BAD! I had planned to leave once I knew that it wouldn't get better, but decided to wait until I got fired so that I could collect unemployment benefits. I was miserable long enough, i figured why not?! Now I'm looking for a new job and I don't know what to say about the whole thing. I've already lied to a few interviewers and said that I quit, but I don't know if this is the right path...or legal? I also feel pretty bad about lying!

All they need to know is that your last employer "went through a reorganization" and do not elaborate further.

Andrea, lying is bad enough & no employer will hire u if they found out u lied! The fact that the place of work was toxic is a legal reason to quit.

This is not the right way to go for an application because what ever that you accomplished with your job experience, the manager/employer will come along and later ask you about yourself to see if you are lying about the prior job opportunity you had in your past that you had already. The job opportunity that you had mentioned that was also lied about go back and look overall to see if everything is correct on what you said you have done.

Um... I have been litterally fired only once.. deserved too... Yet I have been laid off a lot. Now 60 or so.. I can say of the 'layoff's .. that at most only two layoff's were in reality termination per firing etc..
Getting laid off is in reality what some employers use instead of firing.
If you got a severence package .. its definatley not firing.. PUre firing gets no benefits.

The truth will always set you free. Yes depending on type of job you applied for its terms for immediate dismissal . Most HR deptments contact previous employers. Hope it works out for you. Toxic job places lead to many physical health problems . Glad you got out from under all of it.

If you get fired and collect the unemployment , then you should tell the truth during interview ,the reason of firing should be indicate as low performance caused by toxidation in bad environment condition .Reminding if there was toxidation you should report that to your manager and if they do not respond ,then you should report to health department to be inspected and also claim case physical damages against the companey you were work for .

You should remove all feelings and emotions from this. Lie or do whatever you have to get another job. Who the hell is totally honest when looking for a job. There is no job worse than the one you are at and better than the one you left. Lol. Keep moving forward

This means cheers to a fresh start! Good luck!

If the new place Contacts old job for reference, it will look really bad that you lied about how you left the last company.. best bet is to be honest without belittling or blaming the last job. Try saying something like i that you no longer agreed with the direction the company was going , or the company went through reorganizing and my position was no longer needed. Companies can not legally say why ,just if you Are eligible for re hire or not. Honesty is always the best ,it's your wording of the truth that will either get or lose the next job.. stay positive in all interview q!&a
Lying never helps. You can later be dismissed if it is found you lied in an interview
