Inside Sales at Muhlen Sohn Inc

Frustrated

Okay, I have been trying for several months now, to find a different job. I am currently, working in an office, sitting at a desk, staring at a computer, 8/day, 40/week; and it is literally, driving me insane. I am just not designed for it. I prefer manual labor, where I can move around and work with my hands; and, for God's sake, interact with people. I have A LOT of restaurant experience; and I have had NO LUCK, with even finding a server job. I don't know what I am doing wrong; or if employers aren't taking me seriously, or what. I am, honestly, starting to wonder if it's my age!! Age discrimination! I am 46 years old. UGH!

I work for Olive Garden and we are always hiring. I am 51 and they hired me 4 years ago. If there is one near you, go online and apply. I literally got the job within a week. I do work another job because waitressing is not always consistent. Which is why i am back to looking for one but try it. They would love you because you have experience.

Customer Service Representative at C 3

I got you beat over 5 yrs of age. Chill out. Honestly, I feel the SAME exact way. Difference is, I just want to be mobile throughout the course of a day i.e.. filing and staging, announce or direct guest & visitors, process mail, ship parcels, distribute mail, etc in an office setting. I AM going to land that position, as I am searching and praying. I look at computer ALL DAY long at pinhead size print and trying to decipher signatures. No exercise. At end of day I am drained from staring at documents and monitor. MY eyes are not the best. Quietly, I keep looking for what suits ME. Fake it til I make it! Keep up the good work, it's coming to you.

Currently looking for work

Same here Stacy! I am going to try and build on a different and MUCH better path, but the problem is I don't have the necessary funds to do it right now, but I am trying to save up as much as I can for that purpose. I am not going to even come CLOSE to save up what I really want to achieve, but I will have a small amount to start and my goal is to first grow that amount to 5 times that, and then grow THAT amount to 3 and a half times that 5 times amount and THEN I can TAKE OFF and KICK-ASS!!! I can't say what that is YET, but if I succeed, I will let everyone know. Hint - it's a " self-employment " initiative! My suggestion to you is that if you have a self-employment idea, go for it IF you have the necessary funds!

That is discrimination, but alot of employers are looking for younger people now because they have the possibility to be there longer and can move up with alot of time ahead of them, but I wish you luck

Hello Stacy, you are not old! If you were than so am I and well........... Nope, Nata, not gonna accept that! Any who.......with that said, If you keep facing the same issues then maybe revamp your resume to list more of your restaurant experience. I like to look up examples of resumes targeting a specific field and use that as a guide. People process information in different ways and mine is visual so when I search resume examples for a food server, for example, I would then click on images. Hope this helps, happy hunting!
