Sometimes corporate rules don't make sense. Just do it and get your raise. You can check out the why after-the-fact.

That should be in your employee manual, I would take a look at it....but if that is the only barrier I think the others gave you good advice. Sometimes things don't make sense but look at what you gain for a small inconvenience. Go for it, and get your raise!

geraldine when its about a job or a company . YOU NEED TO GO WITH THE FLOW IF YOU WANT TO STAY IN GOOD WORKING STATUS WITH THE COMPANY especially if you want a raise . it doesnt make sense to you or alot of us and i could try to explain it to you and justify thier position but the point is . WHEN I WORKED IN ALL MY JOBS MY MAIN GOAL FOR MY 5 DAUGHTERS WAS I NEED TO DO WHAT I NEED TO DO. and since i was able to put all 5 thru expensive colleges like NYU ORU KU TSU that is what is all about . EITHER COMPLY WITH THIER RULES OR FIGHT THEM AND RISK GETTING FIRED AND NEVER PROMOTED ;

There are many reasons why a company has certain procedures that they follow. Perhaps the most important one being to legally protect themself. As an employee, we do well to adhere to their policies and procedures if they are within the confines of the law. You want to show them that you are part of the business and are an asset to the business. If you are the oil that helps the business machine to run, you make yourself necessary or even vital and your employers will see this. The results will be good for both you and your company. Congratulation on your promotion and salary increase.

Every position is different and changing to a new position while working for that organization. Once I had to go through the same steps. With raise comes other things nothing is given freely. Go for it!!! The important thing u have a job. Count your blessings. Give praise for that. I am happy for u
