Great question. Heres a few quick thoughts
- your background and accomplishments highlighting the results over efforts and positive impact on the orgs you were working for
- be prepared to ask good questions about the role with them or their firm (include asking them what will define success in this role).
- be prepared for some of the textbook questions like your strengths and weakness, where you see yourself in 5 years, etc. If its on weaknesses, Be honest. I personally like real answers about weakness over fake ("I guess I just work too hard" "I am just too much a perfectionist" etc, aren't really answers). BUT always end with how you have learned, or addressed it.
- interviews are about showing you will add value to them. self awareness and being able./willing to learn are big. being friendly and smiling is important. And if you took the time to research the role and company - thats huge. remember to sell yourself. Don't be shy. Now is the time to brag. But in a way that always shows them how you will add value to the company and the role they have. Finally - don't ask about benefits or anything int he first interview. You have the least power now. Once you have an offer in hand - then you can ask those details. Then they want you and are committed to the decision. now you have the power for any of those questions.
Good luck! You've motivated me to write a better written post on this than this quick set of thoughts but hope this helps in the interim!
