My most recent job: new manager came in stating that he wanted to clean house and bring all his own people in. The longtime assistant manager, a dishwasher, and myself were fired yesterday and he is ruining our reputation.

How do we get our professional reputations back without retaliating? This manager failed at keeping his own restaurant open more than 6 months, and has taken over another. People that actually know the restaurant industry have been eliminated from the staff, and he is instilling people who are just after any job, not people who care about the customers. What can be done to help the customers, the owners, and make sure the restaurant doesn't close in under 3 months?

There is really nothing you can do. An employer has the right to let you go like you have the right to leave without explanation. It sucks but it's legal. Just go with your head high and shine at the next job.

There is not much you can do legally. It's not your job anymore. Move on to something better.

This is difficult especially when you have heart and truly love your work and position and company. Really all you can do is pray for those who are doing the wrong or just don't know any better (because we all learn things differently and in and at different points in our life) but stay true to who you are and perhaps confront without conflict. I wish you thr best of luck and also pray for resolution and prosperity. Best wishes and I hope for the best.

Ask the owners for a reference. If you know any of the regular customers, I would warn them about the new management. They would probably dine elsewhere. Then the owners would get rid of a manager who loses loyal customers.

Just get some legal advice about the situation. And go from there. Your rep is very important to you and you would like to keep it clean. But a job can do what it want to at any given time
