Food Prep Experience
Do I need to have previous food preparation experience to work in a deli? There a pt evening job opening in the deli department in HEB that would be a perfect 2nd job for me. I looked over the job description but it doesn’t specify. Thanks.

Joanne, I would just apply to the job with or without experience, let them make the decision on hiring you or not. Some companies are willing to train you while others look for experience, it all depends on the company you are applying to. Good look, and apply for it, not hurt in trying.
No you do not need any type of experience, yes it would be nice but no. As long as you are willing to learn and prove to the manger that you can do the job you should be fine.

Hi Joanne: If the job description doesn't specify, my thought is that previous experience may not be necessary but you won't know until you apply. Surely, previous experience is helpful but as long as you can pick up on things quickly, you should be good to go! Good luck!
