In the USA credit has nothing to do with going to a public school , its free and its the law that you got to school K-12. For a job you don't need credit. And when will anyone stop being a person, nothing can change everyone is a living human being. SO the answer is no , credit is used to determine whether you can buy a car , house , and receive things like loans. have a nice day.

Hey Josiah, There are a small, limited number of jobs for which credit score becomes of concern to employers (usually finance related, and/or part of a broader background check). One thing to be alert to is that there are lots of sites that use advertising to keep their career and job services free. I think this is fine so long as it is obvious which part is advertising and which part is job/career content. But some sites aren't so clear - so be alert as to the context by which anyone is asking you about credit scores. Of course, outside of your job search, its always good to keep a good credit score as it affects your ability to get a car, an apartment, a house, a creditcard, etc.
The government has links that allow you to get your full credit report for free 1 time per year. Heres a portal on it (be careful going anywhere else, lots of places say its free but then you stumble into getting charged a ton of money every month -- here's the link to the free access as is your right under law once per year). http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0155-free-credit-reports
