Never to Old to Work
I have 1st stage Onset Parkinson' Disease, I was layoff on 6/29/18 but not from my PD. Another company purchase the company I already work for and was deleting departments no longer need. I still want to work. Some people I should try looking for jobs that I could work from home. But field is Logistics Program Manager and I do not know what field I could go into at working from home.
Working with such a disease is nearly impossible due to the memory and cognitive degeneration. Talk with your doctor; most likely they will tell you to file for social security disability. You will lose your right to drive your car and may have to rely on Uber or ??? This disease is no joke and is degenerative in nature. You might want to keep your life insurance paid up. Sell the house and get more life insurance with your kids as beneficiaries (life insurance is non-taxable as of this date) and keep some for the nursing home. Good luck.

I'm not sure if this is relevant to you and so far as whether or not you care, whether or not they were downsizing, I don't think they were allowed to fire someone who just found out they had early onset Parkinson's. So, if it's money that you need, I think you're all right. However, if you're just getting up there and want something useful to keep your hands busy and your mind Sharp that I don't know what to say. Maybe, you could go after them yourself instead of using a lawyer. I'm pretty sure the laws on your side and going it alone would give you something to do and keep your mind Sharp. Check out the offerings there and see what you think you can do. Work from home jobs are kind of a whole new ballpark, but you could find something that uses a lot of the skills you built up in your previous career. I think you made the right choice following the layoff. It's good to find something that allows you to focus on your health. Be well.
Hey my friend I know exactly what you are going thru I have rheumatoid arthritis and degrenrative disc in my back on top of that I am 65 years old I know God is going to see me thru I know I need a work from home job I wish you the best sending prayers your way companies say they don't discriminate because of a disability but they do any companies they are set up to assist the disabled
