Frustrated

I can’t believe the businesses in this town , that discriminate against age. I’m 64 and I can still run circles around young people however they ask win did you graduate? That’s where it all stops!

Dear Patty, why are you so worry of your age! your courage, strength and patience matter. If you think of discrimination always, that is the initiative from you, not from any company. Also, replace that initiated descriminathing with your strength in your faith.

If you can prove age discrimination then you have a legal leg to stand on, however unless you can get an attorney to take your case pro bono you would have to risk a lot of up-front $$$ with no guarantee of winning your case. I'm 54, and am wondering if this is why I'm having problems moving forward in my career search with many years of experience. I hope all works out well for all us "oldsters"

I believed I was being age discriminated against at a former job. So I filed a complaint with the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). I had been with company almost 15 years. Look into it. Employers hate that they get called out on the carpet.

I feel your pain. We are well-seasoned people. We understand what life is about because we have been through the fire. Don't put us out to pasture we are all still alive. And another thing when you have too much education they ask this dumb ass question. "Well if a position come available in your field will you leave us. DUH

Don't feel bad because where i work at we have young and older people like myself but the younger people always screwing up people orders and they placed the blame on me but i think not i tells the people its these young kids that is screwing up things and i tells them to call and report what they do. and where i work at they kiss the college students ass and give them the ok its alright to scew up in which its not right and i agree with everything you say just remember back in the day they didn't have all of this mess all they wanted was good workers and people would get hired but since college wasn't that prosperous back in the day now they are saying that you must have a college education see back in the day college wasn't making money they set people up who in the hell have all that money to pay back to these fools large sums of money its a shame how you have been treated people don't care the only thing we can do is continue to fight until life isn't anymore because things aren't going to get any better but worser. i do wish you the best in finding employment trust me someone is going to want the skills that you have..

Be bold, ask them do they want a worker that had a education in their life or a worker that has been educated from their life, I have yet to see a high school or college that teaches people how to respond to real life situations, OJT is the best education anyone could have under their belt. Just remind, sell them on you and the benefits of what your experince brings to the table.
