I just looked at 18 bartending openings in Atlanta Sequoiya. Does it sound like Sequoia? One said $17.00 to $35. hourly, start immediately. Others were nice hotels and restaurants, and a few clubs. You need experience, and the best place to get that is in Bartending School. When I lived in Escondido CA (2010-11), there was a large school next door in Vista. Their graduates staffed bars from Oceanside to Tijuana (40 sq. miles). My guess is that there are several within 30 minutes of you, because Atlanta is way bigger than San Diego. Surprisingly, because I am connected to every service, when I typed in bartending, it gave me Salt Lake City first; and there are even more openings here. We got nobody, and they all drink.
Here's the miracle. Research the bars, clubs, and restaurants you feel comfortable going into, in your area. Go to each of them for about 10 minutes, or a little more. Observe the patrons and see if they are people you would like to serve. Watch the staff interact and supply their magic. As you do this, you will see the places you don't want to go to, and the one's you'd love to. It doesn't happen that often anymore, but sooner or later, you're going to meet a decision maker, and that is when you can suggest the training for reduced pay. Were I a bar owner, I would want to train the 'tenders' personally. And I hear the tips are great. Best to you. Respectfully, Philip M Brockman Oh, and P.S. As to training, don't forget to check on Cruise Lines, because they train too. PMB
