Disheartened with results of job search

Every day I check my email and see emails stating “We appreciate your interest but are passing...” or “Thank you for applying...we will not be moving forward...” - even more disappointing is when I actually interview (in person, Phone, video), sometimes more than once - and they seem like they went well...a few I honestly felt I was about to receive an offer right then..the conversation is smooth, without any long pauses and it’s left with a feeling of positivity like “everything sounds great..” or “your skill set and answers were impressive..” or even “based on your personality and expertise you’d be a great fit with the team or company”. Then either I don’t get a call back, or receive a call or an email saying - basically “thanks but no thanks”. I take notes about the position prior to interviewing and align what they are looking for to my experience, do research on the company and even the person/people I will be interviewing with plus follow up via email or phone right away and a few days later...but it seems it doesn’t matter. From the moment I wake up I have voicemails and missed calls regarding my resume. I call back and we chat about the position and my experience as it relates..everything sounds great..then nothing. I don’t know if it’s just me or that I have 20 years experience but no college degree or what is going on. I’ve never been out of work this long. I started on my career path as a FTE at a company where I learned a lot and progressed quickly. From being just an Admin in a QA area to assisting the team with test execution to supporting both roles and responsibilities full time until being given the title of Bus System User Specialist - just within 6 months - leasing my own team after 8 mos and just short of a year was a Project Manager. Unfortunately after 3 years was let go with a handful of others due to budget issues. I became a contractor from then til 5 years ago. I worked for various companies that used technologies, processes, etc that I wasn’t familiar with, but did not want to make a bad impression so I took it upon myself prior to onboarding as well as during my contract to take it upon myself and learn whatever it was I needed to know because I was expected to “hit the ground running” so I made sure I did just that. I have attended some college courses that were related to my career but did not receive a degree. I just do not understand what I am doing wrong...

Opinion Pollist at Self Gary Richardson For Governor

Mistie, You are not doing anything wrong. Looking for a job these days requires skill. They have all these new requirements that people have to learn, like the tracking system that is run by the computer and only draws out words for a specific position. Then there is the task of tailoring your resume to fit their needs. Also, there is the interview and those are the hardest. If you answer one question wrong it can turn the positive into a negative. Is your resume updated? If not click on your profile on this website and it has step-by-step instructions on how to update or recreate a resume. Also if you think it is your interviewing skills google youtube videos and they have some great tips. In addition to this if and when you get an interview always follow-up with a phone call or a thank you e-mail. In the heading, you want to indicate that you are still interested in the position that you applied for. Take mental notes about what you talked about during the interview and mention it. It keeps you on their list of applicants for possible 2nd interviews. One more thing and that is your cover letter it should be killer and indicate the skills for the job you are applying to. Also never get up many on this website have been waiting for over two yrs or longer to be employed. God Bless you and best of luck and I hope I was able to help you. TYJ
