I'm 65, had to give up a real good job ,willingly , to take care of my mom,who had Alzheimer's disease. I loved every minute I took to be with her.But I feel like I can to make up the work time and money I lost, now ..I worked hard, got along with all I worked with just fine and enjoyed my job. It was same job every day but always something new to work with as it was a sample development department..all the different things I learned to do on my previous job helped to do the best I could in the new job..I have worked part time in food service while working in the mill to help my daughter with school..I have good people skills , learn easily, and give it all I got on any job . Even tho I'm retired now,I'd like to have a job to go to again,no matter how menial..I've worked all my life and find staying home a bit boring..

Hi, I was in the same situation being a caregiver. What I found helpful was to list the skills you gained as a caregiver. Being financiallyresponsible, excellent in listening, negotiation skills, advocating for a cause, being self reliant while managing a staff, if you had home aides, we did, but we also had to manage them. All of these skills you had to have to take care of your mother. These are valuable skills that most people often over look.
