SCAM ALERT Got a job offer to work at home from Walgreens Boots Alliance. The company is legit but the scammers are just using that to suck you in. The crux of the scam is this: they told me they would send me a check to cover the costs of a new Mac-Book pro laptop and for the office equipment I would need to operate out of my home (printer, fax machine, etc.) Had I accepted, their check would bounce once I attempted to cash it and I would be on the hook for the check amount. I told them it sounded like a scam. They said no, we can assure you it isn't. When I told them I was out because I didn't want a check that would likely bounce, they sent this reply, "Bastard! God punish you." Can you believe that? You can't make this stuff up.
Hi Max, thanks for letting us know! I'm really glad you didn't fall for it. It's so frustrating that scammers use real company names, because it makes it harder to realize it's a scam! But anytime it's way too good to be true is a good hint that it's a scam. I'm not surprised they were upset, but what a satisfying end that you didn't lose any money!
