Toys R Us
Wow, I remember going there and having those paper slips to give in order to receive your toys. That's a place of a child's dream, so sad that other children will not be able to have that experience.

They were bought by a venture capital company (I call them vulture capital). They charged ToysRUs HUGE interest fees & milked every last penny out of them. When they couldn’t get any more money out of ToysRUS. Last year they made $29 million, but they were crushed by the heavy debt Bain Private Equity (the Co, Mitt Romney started) imposed on them. It’s actally private equity, not venture capital. Very similar. They’re vultures who destroy successful companies for their own profits. Like parasites suck the blood out of their hosts.

Why they shut it down

I agree..I went 2 baby's R us 2 spend my 1 year old's gift cards on her a couple days ago..the cashier told me they just stopped taking gift cards the day prior!!i almost made a huge scene in that store!Fortunately..she was able 2 override that and I was able 2 use them..Crazy!!that place is wildly expensive anyways..but I will miss TOYS R US from my childhood

How sad that toy company has been around for decades. I grew up in the 80s and remember the theme song

I thought they were getting up to 2 month pay. What about health insurance coverage? Can they get dropped just like that without Cobra or anything else to fall back on? I read somewhere some stores are taking on temp workers to help with the liquidation.

I know people who work there...the company isn't compensatig the employees at all. No severance no referral to another company. Just lots of people without jobs :(

Where a kid can be a kid

I remember having to get those paper slips too Terrence! I always just wanted to get my toy...but those were the good days!
Back in the late 80's, they had a whole huge isle dedicated to train sets and slot cars. I was in heaven. Wasn't long, when I went back, it looked like a worn out Goodwill store. Nothing but clothes and some stuff Walmart prolly' tossed out the back into the dumpster.
