Program Specialist to Director Level Postions
Hello All,
I have been in case management for a year and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to take the skills that I have with this position that would be a catalyst for me to become a Director (non profit or for profit)? Before I worked in non-profit my career was in Electronics and Marketing fieldwork where I utilized my Communications degree from Undergrad and now have a Graduate degree. My focus is to double my salary within the next year and a half if not sooner to become more stable and I really feel like I can elevate to that level. I am thinking about Grants Manager but I do not have any grant writing education. Any ideas, tips and direction would be helpful.

What sort of director positions would you be looking at? I think that might help to answer that question.
From someone with over ten years of experience in non-profit/local/state government case management/supervisor/program specialist field, I have had to work my way up through the trenches and still have not been able to secure a Director position. Of course, there are some positions that if you know the right person, that is all that matters, but typically in non-profit you need to serve your time. I have a B.S in Psychology, MBA, Master's Certificate in HRM and currently working on my Doctorate, but still cannot land a Director position. I hope you have better opportunities where you are located and in the companies you choose. Best of luck to you!
