Unemployed

First Post

There are so many ways to look for new opportunities now. I've been doing it the old fashion way. Putting on my hiking boots and hitting the pavement, its very own job inside itself. How do you navigate your way through all the dirt and dust and profiles until you find the right employer? It doesn't seem the employers are really searching for me, I have been here awhile.

Hi Jared,

Thanks for posting to Jobcase, and for creating such an awesome group! I'm sure a lot of Jobcasers will be eager to join and share their own experiences with you.

Searching for the right employer definitely takes time, and you're 100% right: It's a job in and of itself. That's why I think it's a great idea to take the same approach as you would a 9 to 5. Set aside a few hours per day for the job hunt. Apply for a set number of jobs per day. Spend an hour researching employers. Spend another hour tailoring your resume and cover letter. And follow up on every application you've submitted (whether by phone or email).

Finding a job can sometimes boil down to being a numbers game - so if you keep putting yourself out there, you're sure to find a job soon.

What do other Jobcasers think?
