Is it worth pursuing a MSN at 56?
Hi all, I started my first class in pursuing my Master's degree in nursing but am now having doubts because of my age. I came into nursing late in life, and just graduated with my Bachelor's this past May. I want to switch direction and go from beside nursing to psych/mental health Nurse Practitioner. I'm doing the accelerated program, which has me finishing at 58 if I continue at the accelerated pace, or 60 if I drop to part time (I'm still working full time.) My biggest fear is after investing the time and money into this program, my age will prevent me from being hireable. Has anyone else started school or switched careers this late in life, and what difficulties did you face? Is it even realistic to think anyone would hire me at 58/60 as a novice? All feedback is appreciated, thank you!
You're age shouldn't stop you from a dream.......
