Worried about unemployment.

I am looking for a job since February 2016 and have still have not been successful in landing a job. I am looking for a job in the legal/contracts field. Will this long term gap in my employment history make it difficult for me to get a job ? I am currently keeping busy by reading books related to my field and engaging in volunteering activity in the local aid clinic.

I was in a similar situation and the only was to get back in the game was to volunteer for a year and get an entire set of new contacts and references.

Ganapati - I understand the pressure of being out of work brings. It is great to volunteer your time as I am in the same situation and also volunteer my time where I can be of use. Have you've been including your volunteer work on your resume? Try networking with the people that you volunteer with and see if they might have some connections. I know that sometimes when unemployment runs out you can re- apply for Federal unemployment insurance. I know we don't all come from the same place but my Christian faith is what keeps me going without too much anxiety. Hope it works out.
