No experience teen trying to find a job
Hi, so I'm 16 years old with no experience trying to find a job. All i have is volunteer work at the Animal Foundation and i don't know if that's a good thing to put in my resume. But, i have applied to many places like Smith's, Albertson's, Starbucks, Del Taco, etc. and I haven't even received a call or email back ;( are there any places you know of in North Las Vegas that are hiring and that I could apply to that are appropriate for my age and experience? Thank you for your help !

Volunteer experience is a great thing to put on your resume! Even experienced professionals will do that. It gives you something to talk about in the interview. You can talk about how you learned skills that will help you in the job you are applying for. For instance, did you learn how to handle questions from the public, to track donations, or the importance of being prompt. Most teen jobs require a good attitude and reliability. Can you show up on time, with a smile on your face, a willingness to work, even if it's boring or requires you to learn new skills? Use examples from your volunteer work that show you can do some of these things. Good luck!

Biancita I know at 16 it feels like forever getting a job, but trust me one will come. Experience in any form is acceptable to a future employer . you're doing a great job.
Teens hunting for jobs. My advice would be to check how you are presenting yourself; are you dressed properly? Even if it is McDonalds it doesn't hurt to where nice slacks and shirt and tie for the young men and appropriate professional clothes for the young ladies. Have you researched the job you are applying for? Even if it is McDonalds, being able to ask and answer questions related to the company and position is always a good idea. Neat hair, don't where piercings, if you have them, cover tattoos. Dress for success. You are young and will get more rejections than opportunities in life. Use this time to practice and hone your skills. Practice interviewing with parents and friends. Good luck on your hunt.
If you have skills which you have learned in school present them: i.e. If you have advanced math or English skills, do volunteer work. Extra curricular activities like sports would show you could be a team player (pun intended). Anything you could present would be helpful. You have skills, but don't know it or maybe don't know how to present them. Take time to look at yourself and see where your skills serve you best!!!!
Don't say "I don't have any work experience". Do say what your skills are and list them on your application and speak to them in the interview.
