Road block with jobs in Michigan
Hello. Im extremely frustrated with my job search. Im a certified Medical Assistant with past experience and been on several interviews but never land the job! Im looking for something part time and not far from my home. Can anyone help me? My daughter is graduating from high school this year and im a single parent doing the best I can.

Try in the diaspora.....don't have a fixed mind ...spread your wings and think out of the box

Hi Cozette, first of all DONT GIVE UP!!! The right job is closer than you think! God Bless.

Hi Heather, Would you be interested in Nursing homes? I would check out all nursing homes. Also, do a search on "physician groups" in your area. This is usually a subset under big hospitals that are separate entity. Good luck! You'll find something! Tash.

Hello, Heather that's why I left Michigan. Keep your head up. I hope you find something.Cozie

I know you want something near your house, but have you thought about re-locating?

Hi Heather Shack - I'm sorry to hear that. I know that the job search is really long and frustrating - I've been there! It's tough. However, for some reason, the job search always tends to be just longer than we thought.
It's great that you already have experience as a Medical Assistant. I think that it puts you in a much better situation than those fresh out of school with a new certification. Additionally, you going on interviews is a great sign, as it shows that your resume and experience is needed and valued.
I wonder if your schedule is why you aren't getting the job? I don't know all about the situation, as you could very well be applying for part time positions (and I just don't know), but that could be a possibility to consider.
I know marisol salinas has some great experience being a Medical Assistant - perhaps she can lend some insight and advice to you? Marisol has been a great source of wisdom and guidance for many community members!
I totally understand your frustration. I'm in the same position. I was the Medical Assistant for the past 13 years until the business closed down.
Searches and interviews are different now. It seems as though experience doesn't count anymore. Employers are going by minimum wage, with a benefit package. So they choose the person who accepts the lessor pay.
I'm as frustrated as you are. Good luck with your job search.
