Anything for Accounting or Finance in Houston
I am currently looking for a position in Finance or Accounting in the Houston, TX area. I have been an Accountant for 5 1/2 years but, I was laid off last May when Oil and Gas took a plunge. I'm working for a smaller company currently as an Accountant but, I am tired of being miserable day in and day out. I have applied to several positions but, am having little luck. I get more scam responses than anything. I have a wife and kid so, I have to do what I have to do in order to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads. As a Marine Corp Veteran you would think that it would be pretty easy to find something but, I am not getting those results. Please let me know if anyone knows of anything. Anthony, things are starting to pick up in the industry. Try Valiant Services for possible contract to hire positions. Also, make sure you tweak every resume you send to fit the job description since companies now use scanning tools looking for key words. In addition to that, try applying on the company website for companies whenever possible because they like not having to go through recruiters when they have their own HR staff. Good luck and hang in there.
Anthony - I work in Finance and have always uses Robert Half for jobs. They are very helpful and have a great presence in most major cities. They even have a department that will reveiw your resume for free.
Hi Anthony: Thanks for posting on Jobcase! Here's a few suggestions for accountant positions in Houston, TX. I would also suggest to being accountant for startup companies on a contract basis so instead working for working for one companies you have a client list.
