Timeline after interview

Hi everyone,

I applied for a job with a local credit union a month or so ago, and finally received an email to interview for the role via phone interview. That interview went well, and I was pushed through to the webex interview last Thursday. I felt that it went well, sent out a thank you email to all of the parties involved in the webex, but it’s been radio silence since...

Any reason they’d be quiet and not respond? How long does it take to get an offer after an interview?

This is my 6th interview in 7 months of job hunting, and as a single parent out of work, I’m getting a bit scared...

I can relate to what you are saying. Sometimes I feel the normal standards aren't normal any more, so it hard to say. Everything now days are so irregular. Some of these people in positions I often wonder how in the hell they got the job?? Hummm??? Good luck!🤞

Cook at Pro Medica Of Mentor

I am an underemployed restaurant worker at a job I've for 36 years. I found a job for nursing home cook. I had to jump through hoops to get in the door. I've had the background check, physical and orientation. They have dragged their feet giving me a schedule. They say when they will call-no phone call. I went tothe hr director at an appointed time and she wasn't there! My old job doesn't want me to leave, but no offers for more hours or a raise. No raise for 5 years. I have stuck by them through reduced hours, just missing getting any unemployment. What should I do?

I get "ghosted" after interviews more often than not. It's rude, but they avoid the awkwardness of giving bad news. Also, if they give you a reason why they didn't hire you, they open themselves to potential litigation.

Keep plugging away, and don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Personal Assistant To Assistant at Office Of The Victims Rights Advocate

I am a retired international civil servant, and for those who may not know, we have mandatory retirement (60 or 62, depending on when you were hired). And though my programme managers wanted to keep me beyond retirement, the most they were able to request was for another year, hence, I retired at age 63 in December 2018. I was not happy with retiring because I feel I have a lot more years to offer but I had to. However, I consoled myself with the thought that this is the United States and age in not a factor considered when hiring.

I restrained myself from posting what can be perceived as negative thinking but after several attempts at landing a job I applied and know I am qualified for, I would get one out of ten who will at least acknowledge receipt of my application. Those that respond would simply inform you that they decided to go another direction but that you should continue on applying. Through a friend's recommendation, I submitted my resume to a company who subsequently trained me for a week and hired me part time as a sales person. I don't mean to degrade the job, but truly, and I am sure I speak for many out there, qualifications and experience should count towards one's being hired. Does our age relegate us to being greeter at stores or sales people? I am sure many of us are qualified to do administrative/office work and are probably more serious about staying and keeping our jobs more than the younger generation.

I thought I'd share these thoughts.

It usually takes only a week or two.... Maybe their HR closed down after an uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases reported.

This is my opinion,I don't think it's a real thing so pray and look on your own.

Let me tell you it can depend. If they tell you they'll contact you by a certain date and that date passes, it's likely they've moved on to other candidates. I generally hold them to whatever they say.

In the past this has come back to bite employers because I've accepted other job offers and they'll call me a week after and ask if I am still interested. By that time, it's too late.

Employers have their own timetable for hiring but that shouldn't dictate your timetable for accepting offers.

Be honest with them and let them know your situation and if you already have offers that you won't wait more than a few days to a week to hear back because other employers are waiting on you as well.

It's a two-way street and you have to look at it like that.

They might see you as a perspective candidate but might be looking for someone better. I know that you desire to have that job. Relax ,don’t wait around for someone to tell you that you need a job. Interview for more. If one catches your eyes take it.
