Frustrated too!
I worked at my job for 25 years. I was let go without a good enough reason along with many others. I am 55 years old and was making a great paycheck. I do not have a business degree or any type of college education. However I have more experience at what I do than someone coming out of college but that does not matter. So tired of hunting for a new job and getting very nervous I will lose my home. These big corporations rather pay 3 young people a quarter of what I made. Your just a number not a person anymore. I feel lost and exhausted putting in resume after resume.

I so do understand your situation. Similarly I was “laid-off” from my job in 2016, with no other reason but lack of jobs to go around between employees. Being I was oldest(52) at the time , regardless of my experience and productivity the company chose me. Now I’m unable to get even an interview to return to my professional career. These company’s will choose 3-5 young people with no knowledge over experience and dedication . What I have done is just live off savings and work part time jobs as I can find them. What will we do once all is exhausted I have no answer, but I will not stop trying to be noticed and maybe get my foot back in the doorway!!!! #givemeaninch

Tami Estep is that question for me? If so I am in Fort Lauderdale Florida. The right to work state. The law here is they dont have to give you a reason or just come up with one.

What state are you from? In Ohio, we have Ohio Means Jobs which is a safe, reputable site to help find a job.

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN I WORK AT WAL-MART AUTOMOTIVE FOR 12 YRS AND I GOT TERMINATED FOR PUTTING MY BADGE ON THE COUNTER

I know it can be tough looking for work Jeanne Garofalo and I am so sorry that you lost your job after all of those years. Sadly it happens. This doesn't mean you can't land a great job without a college degree! Check out some options [here] (https://www.nwitimes.com/business/jobs-and-employment/high-paying-jobs-that-don-t-require-a-college-degree/collection_db42de6b-5746-5fd1-9b3d-2033f7249822.html#14)!
Also, if you have found that you are not hearing back from jobs or landing interviews, the issue might be your resume.
If a company uses what’s called a [applicant tracking system] (https://www.thebalance.com/what-is-an-applicant-tracking-systems-ats-2061926) your resume could be slipping through the cracks.
The ATS is a program that companies use to sort through 1,000’s of resumes to find the best possible ones. If it doesn’t recognize what it needs, your resume will be cast aside and likely NEVER be seen by an actual person at that company.
To avoid being passed over, utilize [keywords] (https://www.jobscan.co/blog/top-resume-keywords-boost-resume/) in your resume. When recruiters search for them, they are looking for certain skills in your resume that match up with what THEY need.
Say for example you are applying for a job as the manager of a hotel restaurant, a recruiter may search for phrases such as “restaurant manager” and “hotel restaurant” or search for the word “hospitality.”
Recruiters are not going to search for words and phrases such as “outgoing” and “hard worker.” This is because keywords highlight your skills, not your traits.
Take some time to make a list of yours and add them to the work experience section of your profile so your resume is noticed. Not sure what skills you should add? Check [these out] (https://www.thebalancecareers.com/list-of-the-best-skills-for-resumes-2062422).
Wishing you the best!!
