What are your personal warning signs you're pushing yourself too hard?

My task list (which is often in my head) is divided into these buckets: Work, Self, Relationship, Family. I think it's important to always be aware of what's in each bucket, and when you're ignoring one bucket because one of the others ones is so full, it's time to rebalance them. The pedal fell off my son's bike. It'll take less than a few minutes to fix it. He can't ride his bike until I do. The absolute worst thing is to get into the pattern where I've become so busy that I completely forgot - because he doesn't know I forgot, and he's being a good boy and waiting patiently because Daddy's busy with work, and days go by until he resigns himself to just not having a bike to ride anymore, and eventually I see his bike getting dusty in the garage and it dawns on me that I've become that guy, and things have to change.
The bike pedal fell off story is completely true, it happened to me earlier this week. I fixed it the next day. But I'll admit that I've been guilty of such things in the past, which is why I try so hard to not let it happen anymore.

I tend to forget things when I'm super stressed. My mind races through all the things I have to accomplish, so much that it trickles into my dreams! I tend to write out lists of items that I need to tackle and put realistic deadlines next to them, so the tasks aren't floating in my mind and I don't forget any of them. If you are feeling stressed, definitely take 5-10 minutes to focus on you - whether that's a coffee break, yoga session, or watching tv. Good luck and hope things get less stressful!

That's a great question Samuel! I know for me it tends to be that I am really tired because my body just can't get rested from everything I'm trying to do. Sometimes it will even make me sick because I'm not getting enough sleep.
There are many signs from being forgetful, to not getting proper sleep because all you do is toss and turn from thinking about what you have to do. You can get high blood pressure, stomach stress to the point of getting an ulcer and many other things. Best thing to do is like others have said is start with a list and prioritize the list. Then if it seems like you have 10 small things that will only take a short time each and 1 big thing that might take a few days, do all the small things and get them off your plate. This will relieve a bunch of stress right off the bat as you will have accomplished a lot and only left yourself with one larger project that can be done is smaller chunks. Its a psychological game you have to play with yourself so you don't feel deluged with projects and can still see yourself making progress on the big job. You need short term successes to help support your goals of the bigger accomplishments. So if you do this you will have less stress and multiple successes giving you positive feedback to go on and handle the bigger stuff. If that doesn't work try some exercise like punching the heavy bag at a gym to let off steam and stress. Also consider taking vitamin and mineral supplements like a B-Complex. B vitamins are super important in the role of stress reduction, but check with your doctor or nutritionist to make sure its right for you. Good Luck!
