Harassment..
I have been working for a company for almost 3 years now and I need some help on who to contact and where to go. I have been dealing with harassment and now being threatened at my work place. I have made a number of complaints and I feel nothing has been done. I have a direct supervisor that has belittled me and put me down a number of times. I don't know if it is cuz he is having a bad day or what. But I don't feel that he should be taking his mood swings out on me. Now he has given me a direct threat saying if I wasn't a girl he would take me outside and beat my a**.. Well I don't take to kindly to any of this. And I am looking for a new job because I am not going to take it anymore. I need a job as me being a single mom, I have thing's I have to take care of.. Does anyone know who and where i can go to here in Las Vegas to file a report or something? I have been looking and I'm not sure if I need to go see a lawyer or labor board or what. Does anyone have any ideas or people I can go to? And does anyone know of any place that is hiring that i will be making the same as I am now @ 15 an hour. All of my bills are around that rate. I can do just about anything and I am a fast learner.

Where is this place? The name.

Hi dear sory for that.At your work place do u have a worker's committee that can handle the isue and you can find any arbitrator or you can report to a labour body

Get a witness that is a mutual worker or if push comes to shove record him and take it to the corporate head in charge or file a complaint with Civil liberty Union

Document, document, document !!!!!!!!!!! Don't talk directly, always use an email and a read receipt. as soon as they read, print. Get a lawyer involved. I'm not a lawsuit happy bastard, but seems you've done all you can. What's the next step ? Lawyer. When the lawyer shows up on the job, they'd be stupid to fire you. When words like harassment and discrimination are used, lawyers eat that up. I,ve seen ladies with bank and their jobs for years. Sounds like you've been around. You're used to guy talk and vocabulary and this goes way beyond that. Do what you have to do. Anyone trying to work and make ends meet shouldn't have to put up with that. But I did notice you've talked with a few people, but never mentioned the owners, who this guy says is why you have a job. They like you. They'll be the ones paying fines. Talk to the owner directly and your problems may be solved. As far as some negative comments I've read, don't worry about that, stay positive, Kick his ass Seabass !

Hello Christine: Being an Information Manager for over 20 years, supervising staff members in large and small numbers. I can honestly say that you have every right to seek legal action towards your supervisor, but my question to you is if you choose to travel down that road have you documented the harassment because without dates and times your case would be hard to take on, I've seen situation like this before working in the Federal Government and the private sector. I will say that any non-profit law firm would be happy to take on such a case.

Does your company have an hr 800 number to report harassment? Also if they don't you can talk to the labor board in your state for steps in taking action. This is not acceptable.

A friend of mine filed a complaint with EEOC and sued a similar boss! Look into it in your area? There should be a contact available? Also have you spoke with Hr about him? You can also create a Zip Recruiter profile it's a great way to find a new job. Sorry to hear your going thru this!..... stay strong and take a stand!!.....

Call the Clark County Labor Board and ask for help there.

Keep an accurate record of the incidents and include time, date and weather conditions. Keep a voice recorder with you. When it's all done go to the Nevada department of labor.
Christine, I'm not in Las Vegas but you need to definitely file a complaint with the Nevada workforce commission. That would be the place to go and they may have free attorney services where you can file suit and maybe seek a settlement for your complaint. Get the hell out of there and tell your boss once you have left to go F#%! himself. Bart
