Just need to make 8 years
Ok I am 53 old man who has 8 years to retirement.looking for a job outside of factory work. Iv work currently at a fast passed factory which has been good pay wise but not so good to me physically as I get older. I'm still a very hard worker but need to slow the pace down a little currently I lift 50 pound parts all day and it's getting to be a little much. My wife is an educator who carries our insurence. Just looking for something not quite as strenuous as what I do now. I know I will have to take a cut in pay but I am very ok with that,just need to make a little pocket money and make it to 62
You said that his job pays you good then you should have good savings to retire and your wife is working you should be doing okay
I would try menards or lowes. Pay isnt bad but with.most retail jobs you'll be working a lot of evening, weekends.and holidays. Are.you ready to.do this. Just keep this in mind..
Tim Watts. You are at the point in life where things have a different focus and shift on what you need to do based on age and health. I definitely understand and just reached that point in my life as well. I have been blessed by the best to be able to be working from home. I work in the early morning hours for about 2 hours teaching one-on-one from 6a-8a and then from 9a-5:30p i work for Sykes doing customer service. Both of these are working from home.
Although, I am taking somewhat of a pay cut, but I am saving time, energy, sanity, health, gas, wear and tear on my vehicle, buying lunch, coffee and snacks daily. I can get up about 40 mins before I need to be at work, get ready, eat breakfast and login at least 15 mins early. Wha Lah!!
It is definitely different but I don't see me going back to work for a Brick or Marter building again!!! Only when I open up my businesses and they would definitely treat people with respect and based on good business ethics and performance. Hi Tim. So, let me Ask you, is there a pension plan you have for retirement, or are you banking on Social Security? I ask because I am 62, soon to be 63, and I was laid off 2 months ago, however I need to wait until 67 to get full social security benefits. Right now if I ask for the benefits I will receive like $1800 a month. If I keep working until 67, I will receive $3350. Ok so what is the point to all this you say? Money is the point. We live in a country where money is now the new god, however, our real God, the only God is in control. So the point is, if you can live with what you will receive at 62, work your way there. And of course keep the Faith on your way there. As for your health, I suggest you join a gym, workout three times a week so that when you do reach your golden years, you will be strong enough to do whatever for years to come. At 62, I am a hard worker and can out work most anyone. But getting a job at my age is turning out to be quite a task, and I as see alot of post on this site, I am not the only one in the boat! Therefore, I am restarting my Transportation company I have had on hold for a few years, but for the life of me, I will reach out on this site and see how needs to get to work. We have to look out for each other, cause every big company/corporation flat just doesn't care about you and me. So, maybe a small business for you? Work at your own pace. There are lots of options in that area. Tim, stay strong, maybe stay where you are but join a gym? You have options,

I get where you're coming from. I 2 and 56 years old I got two ways to go myself. I have for herniated disc in my back plus an extra dist I was born with that has a tumor on it. I'm exhausted a lot of time right now I'm a waitress and I let my competitiveness kick in take my pain medicine and I out run 20 year old girls. That is the only way I have found I can survive the pain is to go to my job and outrun every single person there now when I get off work and I sit in my car then I start crying and I'm crying all the way home because I am in severe pain but there is no way on this world I would ever let my job know it. I have the initiative that I will not only hang in there and keep running with him but every time they turn around I will do something to outshine them even if it kills me and sometimes it feels like it might. I hope you find what you're looking for I truly do. I pray God will lead you to the job you want. All I ask if the father is to let me keep showing these 20 year old kids up that'll make all the pain worth it for me
