Quick Cover -- Lexis Nexis -- Protecting Your Good Name

Hello Fellow Jobcasers,

If you will kindly allow me to share these insights, here's how you nip any challenges in the bud before you contact companies for hire. Comb through all of your personal information appearing in government, public records, and court filings (such as real estate, liens, bankruptcies, professional licenses,& death filings). Be sure to check your credit reports yearly. See if you can spot any inconsistencies. If so, you're headed to government websites, Experian & Equifax to name a few, and you're reviewing all of your licenses, if applicable. Should anything negative appear, stay calm. Chances are that your name may be connected to another person residing in another state who may have committed an illegal act. Then, seek to offer transparent disclosure stored in records & files. When you keep your name clear, no one can compromise you. I hope this helps. Barbara Brinkmeyer, MBA

Would you know if there are any cost for ordering this information? I don't think I have any discrepant negative information out there but it doesn't hurt to double check. Is this the same information companies check during applicant background investigations? I'm also concerned about identity theft which is becoming more and more abundant. Just look at Yahoo and Wells Fargo..it's crazy. Thanks for sharing this info.

Yes! It's always good to know what's out there regarding your name. Chances are if you can find it through Google and other search engines, employers can too. Thanks for sharing this great post Barbara!
