I have been searching for my next job during my entire career. I have five college degrees and am a skilled professional, yet I can't find a full time jib in my field.

You have no choice but to be as proactive as have the time to be but definitely start with temp agencies. Many of them help you get a job.

I have never in my life had this hard of a time finding full time employment. Online, trying to find a job is awful and impersonal. I get emails back and forth from companies for days asking and answering questions that a phone call of 5 minutes could handle. Jobcase has done nothing for me. Where is all this help?

Hi Dan! I would advise picking up some type of part time or temporary job - it will help pay the bills and you will gain some type of experience in the meantime! It will also help you develop your soft skills!

Hey Dan,
Searching for a job is a full time job!
It’s certainly time consuming and the technological/on-line approach used today places you in a bigger pool of applicants. Be careful, however, not to rush into anything that you may to regret later. Here are some suggestions that may expedite your job hunting process.
1- Make sure your resume and online profile information is up to date.
2- Post your resume in multiple job search engines and make sure it’s visible to employers. Use keywords when searching, (ex: specific job titles, skills, and locations).
3- Send cover letters with your application and resume when available.
4- Complete the outlined application process and follow up with a phone call or in person visit; if the location is accessible.
5- Research company and try to find out who’s the hiring Manager or Human Resources agent recruiting for the position and attempt to make contact to introduce yourself.
6- Be specific about what you want.
These guidelines should help but keep in mind that job hunting is a time consuming sometimes prolonged process that you’ll appreciate when you land that “dream job”.
Stay hopeful and positive…. your almost there!!!

Hi Dan, I completely understand your frustration. Job hunts can be very tedious and longer than we would like. I would look into local temp agencies. They are great for getting temporary work while you look for something more permanent. They can have things that last 4 hours, to 6 months, and even possible temp-to-perm positions. This is also a great way to build up your skills. Good luck!

Hi Dan! First of all, welcome to jobcase! Everyone on this site works really hard to help people find jobs quickly and efficiently and the members are also super helpful contacts in terms of helping other people find job options, so reaching out to other jobcasers is a great first step! My suggestion would be to take on any jobs you can find through family or friends to pay the bills while you search for a more long term position. If you tell people on this site what you're interested in doing, I'm sure someone can help you out! Thanks for the great question and let us all know how we can help!
I suppose we are all in different situations. Some can afford to nor make money for a while and spend months driving here and there for interviews etc.
Others due to life losses have been pushed in the pool too often and have had to become street smart and take any job thats somewhat interesting to them right away.
Then career searching can take place weekends or evenings in a very focused manor to try to secure interviews for kind that can actually suppose you and brings stability again.
I have been in both situations where I had a very stressful good paying job and trying to find time to take days off and interview for something more in line with my life calling, and I've had underemployed phases with lots of time to interview Where I had to bartend, work retail, promotional sakes and whatever to pay the bills.
What decsions can you make this next week to help you move in the right direction?
Best wishes
Eric
