Hello Jobcase friends! I was recently offered a job at Amazon through a staffing agency here in Illinois. I interviewed on 5/9 and was offered a position on the spot. I was scheduled for orientation on 5/10 which I completed and was given my schedule and was told to report to work on 5/15. I arrived 45 minutes before my scheduled time to check in for my first day of work, but was sent home due to my background check not being completed. Here is my problem. I quit my previous job to start on the 15th and was not told that background checks would take 7-10 business days. If I didn't quit my previous job I would have been a no show at Amazon. Now I am unemployed and I'm being told that there are no open positions at Amazon. I feel like I prematurely quit a good job to start at Amazon even though the background check wasn't completed. How can a staffing agency set you up 4 business days later even though they know your background check won't be completed in time? I am now stuck in a tough position as I am scrambling to find a job. I have been in touch with this staffing agency everyday but they still tell me my background check is pending, but they show no compassion towards me now being unemployed. I have no idea what to do? Any suggestions would help!
