No Experience Necessary
Are job postings that list “no experience necessary” mean those employers are only interested in hiring applicants with literally no experience? I’ve been emphasizing all my years of related work experience on these type of job postings thinking that will give me an edge among the other applicants but I’m not attracting any interest. Is showing more experience on a no experience necessary job opening a pro or con?

I have experience!!!

What are the jobs

It means that all can apply. What they are looking for is a crap shoot. It depends on the company and the job. If they post it that way it usually means they want cheap labor. They are expecting a high turnover rate. Kinda like throw something at the wall and see what sticks. You are right to relay your experience and how it will help them. They may not be looking for that though. They may only want a thoughtless living and breathing person that can take direction well and they can mold. The problem is they have no idea how to mold anyone or they would put some sort of restrictions on the applicants.

It means everything and nothing all at the same time. Some who post the position don't know what they are doing or how to fill the position. Others are deceitful. Still others know exactly what they are doing. My best advice is to be honest and respectful. You cannot control what others choose to do. You've gotten a wide range of responses which are all true for a given set of conditions. Put another way, there is no one answer to this question. Good luck.

By indicating work experience in some jobs looking for non experience people, company HR look at the full picture of the company priorities. Minimum wage to start (save money), and new trainee (longevity of employee for workforce sustainability positive grooming of company employee mindset). You may be over qualified for the level of work required in that position. You could say you have no experience, but that would be dishonest and will bite you down the road. Some young supervisors may be intimidated with your level of experience and may find it difficult to work with you. Of course they will not tell you that, but perhaps showing a humble personality in the interview may change their mind. Be positive, and humble. Workers with experience sometimes shoot themselves in the foot boosting about there experience to the recruiter.

The indespensible man, you would appear to be however, it would be my belief that these types of jobs have high turn over ratios virtually because of their fly or die mentality. If you make it fine you will earn you keep, if you don't then, the pay is horrible and you will be willing to leave on you own, no unemployment for you.

Hi Jacob, when an employer post a job that means no experience necessary, they are looking for an entry level individual who 1) they can mold their working to their liking and 2) they can pay at the bottom of the pay scale. Bey showing a lot of experience you are telling them a couple of things: 1) you have your own working style. 2) you want more money than they would offer. 3) you may leave them for a better job should one come up. Hope this helps?

It generally means that if you have experience, you may be considered, but don't expect to negotiate for more money based on your experience. the salary will be what it is with experience or no.

When I see that term, I take it to be that the company is willing to train you on the specifics of the job. If you have certain capabilities on your resume from current/past jobs, that could potentially help with the "no experience" reference. I don't take that as good or bad. I would apply regardless, you have nothing to lose.
Usually jobs that post "no experience required/necessary" are, in my experience, looking to fill entry level positions. They are typically positions that don't require a college degree such as sales jobs. I was job hunting like crazy last year since I was graduating that semester, and due to my experience (and lack thereof) as a sales associate at Macy's I was going on a lot of interviews for sales positions. All of them were commission based and all were entry level and each one was advertised as needed "no-little experience". So I think listing your experience definitely won't hurt you, but if you are someone with that much work experience you might not want to apply for those type of positions.
