Starting over at age 47. Not sure if it is for me.

As I read the posts on this website and I go through th same scenarios it is heart breaking to see how we are treated. We cannot catch a break I decided to start my own in home day care see where it takes me am tired, exhausted and feel unappreciated by employers if I devote the same loyalty to my own business maybe it will work. I don't feel like starting over at the age of 47. This is only a suggestion and am not sure if it is going to work but with the job market being the way it is I am going to try something out of the box.

Childcare Provider at New York State

Hi Sheryl Matthew, yes it's very hard starting over. Working odd jobs so I decided to work at home working with children, I started out being a in home child care provider for families that receive HRA which gave me a child care provider ID# then from there I became a member of United Federation of teachers, then from there I was able to take child care classes for my license. Being your own boss, program's will help you with grants and reimburse you for meals, Good luck

That sounds like a wonderful idea, Sheryl! If taking care of children is something you enjoy, then I think starting a day care could be great! You'll have to keep us updated on how everything goes.
