Life changes you
Help, I keep being told I'm over qualified. If I change my resume i won't be qualified or don't have the skills. Due to health changes I can no longer take on a high demanding job. But need to apply for positions that will give the highest pay & benefits. Just getting discouraged that I'm gna get stuck taking a job that a junior in high school is either applying or is my supervisor. Any advice???

From what I understand that you are saying is that you want close to the same pay as someone with your knowledge and your work pace before you were handicapped and that's just not real. I believe you need to apply for a position that is above what you would normally apply for because you aren't physically able to handle the work load as a laborer and you have the experience as an administrator so I believe you should apply for an administrative position for that reason and you wouldn't have to physically work as hard due to it would be a more mentally challenged job and it would fit your vast knowledge. People love to see someone make the most from their knowledges and thus would help you get there because you have more experience than any laborer data fill personnel. Go big!! You would be a lot happier knowing you are mentally challenged at work everyday. Just remember where you came from if you get it and treat people as you want to be treated and you one day was a rookie. We do all have to start somewhere.

Hi Kimberly, Thanks for posting on Jobcase! I would suggest making sure employers know you are flexible with situations you may be put in, such as a supervisor who is younger than you. Also, make sure you are also willing to negotiate your pay as they may feel they will have to pay you more than they were thinking for the position. I hope this helps!
Hi Kimberly, Maybe redo your resume. When applying for a certain job look at their requirements/qualifications and put the same words on your resume. Soon enough you'll be called. Then when you do land on a interview, keep it simple. Unfortunately don't brag so much on your qualifications. I know this might sound bad but keep it simple. Employers might see it as if they hired you they would have to consider paying you more. They rather pay someone who is young and out of high school less then pay a more experience worker. If they ask you what you want to make don't expect to get close to what you made before you might have to consider taking a pay cut. Its either that or continue to be unemployed. Not all companies are like that but most are nowadays. The idea is to get a job now and later you can start looking for something that matches your pay and qualifications and experience. I am actually having difficulty with my age. I am 47 but look 35. OMG! I never thought I be in this situation. I went on a interview yesterday and they said to me in the interview, you would be the oldest one here but I think it might work you have an up beat personality...I was shocked they said that...... even though I wanted to jump over the table and chock her or say something nasty. I held it in and smiled. I feel drained at times... Good Luck and keep applying
