Office Manager at Cherry Insulation Inc

Interviews with Wal-mart

okay so I go in for my first interview and Penny calls me and tells me that I'll be working from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Walmart on Gall Boulevard for two weeks and after that they're going to send me to the warehouse in Dade City for 2 months and then I'm going to go back to the Walmart on Gall Boulevard so I was all excited at the end of working there for 14 years I was making $28 an hour the owner my boss decided to retire and sold his businesses and as he saw them the man who bought his companies had his own crew so we all had a two week notice. Yay! now I can't even get a job at Walmart Okay so I go on my second interview with the assistant manager Nikki now they told me to bring in questions to ask about the job and I've been working for the same company for 14 years so I was nervous so I Googled questions to ask while being interviewed well I think that they weren't satisfied with that and I believe that's why I didn't get the job however they are already hired me prior to the second interview and then she said she being Nikki the assistant manager I will be calling you Monday well I got all ready for work and found out oh no no you didn't get the job will call you if we ever do need you after my first interview with Penny who gave me my hours and my job and I am a felon we're all fallible human beings we all make mistakes and with that comes consequences some bigger than others but we are all fallible human beings and we all deserve a second chance and they hire felons and I am very disappointed and I keep trying to call up there to get a hold of one of them because I believe this is I don't believe I know it is well I've called about 6 times and they are not over there well I'm just going to go up there because I deserve it to know why they did this to me I am a professional I am really easy-going I work great with others I love teamwork you know and building each other up and you know giving each other confidence to do the job better and pump each other up get hyped and do it right you know and this is unfair it's like you can't get a job anywhere there are a thousand jobs who need workers however nobody wants to hire so I don't know what to do but I am going to go into Walmart and talk to them and I want a reason to as why they didn't hire me and after that I'm going to call Channel 8 because somebody has to do something here there are too many jobs out there and nobody wants to hire anybody and especially when you're qualified I truly would like to work in an office secretary receptionist and work my way up I did leave my job as an office manager I have my resume and I have references and all very good references so what is the problem what do they want? I am so serious about this there are so many unemployed people out there who want to work and have the ability and the willingness and the open-mindedness to do whatever it is they are asked to do but now they want to go hire someone who will work for $2 an hour okay now I'm going a little too far I'm just getting a little frustrated because just frustrates me so if you're going to post jobs set up an interview and ask questions that you need to know about the person that is at the interview who is looking for the job you don't hire somebody and then fire them well I was never fired but I was hired and told not to come in there call me when they need me so to me that means they didn't want me and I deserve an explanation of why! I know I am powerless over this and I know I just have to let it go and move on and keep on searching but it's like I'm searching in the abyss seriously this is just ridiculous I am qualified to do just about anything and if there's no experience needed trust and believe I am a fast learner and I'm sure many of us are! take a second to read my resume talk to me interview me give me a chance if anything I can help your company and prove because that's what I am there for it's called teamwork you want to hire someone who's qualified smart educated willing and ready to do whatever it takes to get that job done and believe me if I was hired the job would be done and then some! I just need a job I have no income whatsoever since I was let go I actually let go well we really all were someone bought the business and when you work somewhere for 14 years and all of a sudden bam you lose your job your income your everything and you had no idea it was coming it's scary I'm a single lady divorced on my own and I need to work why do they have all these find a job job Indeed LinkedIn I don't know if anyone out there is hiring and wants the job done and done right and communicates well with others works well with others who has morals values hire me help me throw it out there throw those jobs out there let me see somebody actually who owns a business or need someone to work for them put out a true application to where you're actually going to hire somebody and not send somebody through loops. I am just so truly honestly and unbelievably frustrated I desperately need to work I'm not 20 years old any longer hell I'm not 30 years old any longer however I am healthy strong conservative however I can put on a pair of overalls that's how desperate I am for a job so please if anybody knows of anybody anywhere preferably in Zephyrhills however I will work just about anywhere in reason of at least 25 mile radius however that is negotiable

Two comments - Take yourself seriously (if you don't, others won't). Second be a professional no matter what you are applying for. Drop the drama, drop the blaming and drop the negativity. Focus on professionalism, being concise and serious and if you are getting the run around ask enough pointed questions and then move on to something else.

Hi Marci Gonzalez , Sounds like you’re frustration and concerns are justified but first let me see if I understand the full Walmart interview story as you have explained it. Please keep in mind that I am not a Walmart recruiter but I will try to assess our experience and offer you some suggestions. I’ll also tag active community members David Selph and Jennifer Silver who actually have previous Walmart career experience so they can share their feedback and suggestions.

So, on your original interview, the interviewer extended a conditional offer and explained what you could expect during the onboarding process. Is this correct? If yes, then why the need for a second interview? A conditional offer is usually followed by a pre-employment drug screen and background check. These two conditions are typically the driving force needed in order to turn a conditional offer into an official offer.

Okay, so then you went on to the 2nd interview but felt your post interview questions were not good enough to convince the Walmart hiring manager to hire you. I wish you would have checked with the community for good interview questions to ask before your second interview Marci Gonzalez . Veronica Jeffersons post Smart Interview Questions: Asking the Unexpected. has some excellent question examples that surly would have knock those managers off their feet. Use the link above to check out her conversation. Great reference for your next interview and believe me; you will have other interviews!

Now your confused as to why you didn’t get the job when it was already promised to you on the first interview. Good Question! Follow-up with the Walmart human resources team and seek a reason but don’t get too caught up on a solution or reasoning for that hiring decision if you don’t get a response from the Walmart HR Team. It’s been my experience that hiring managers do not like to share that information with applicants in order to avoid lawsuits and further conflict.

Move on to other job opportunities. That’s where we can help you! The resume on your profile looks solid. 10+ year working as an Office Manager for the same employer, that's Awesome! Question(s)… are you applying for similar jobs and not getting called back for interviews or are you applying, interviewing, but getting official job offers? Or is it that you’re not finding enough qualified Office Manager jobs in your area? Do you think employers are not interested in hiring you solely because of your past?

Let me look around for some job leads that might interest you and forward those to you. In the meantime, stay positive, persistent, encouraged and continue to network with other members in this community. You're not alone, we are here to support you. Thanks

Tax Preparer Assistant Manager at Liberty Tax Service

I wish you the best of luck..really I do. However as an assistant manager, may I point one thing out? Not to tear you down, but rather to help you see where there might be an issue? For one, it's your lack of using simple programs such as Word or spell check before you submit your resume and application. You state you are wanting to work in an office environment. That is one of the key elements. The other is this statement alone. You are stating way too much negative and not focusing on staying on point with the positive.
