More and more these days employers are opting to only offer part time jobs of less than 32 hours weekly. The reasons for this seem clear...if you are not a full time employee, and the company offers benefits, you won't be getting benefits if you are part time. They can have 2 part time employees covering one work day...one person works til noon, the other til 4...and neither get benefits. Health care is out of control expensive, and this tactic of hiring part timers is a way to circumvent having to cover their employees. Businesses have to find ways to stay alive and keep their doors open...don't blame the business, blame the government who makes it so difficult and expensive to be successful in our country.
