Sales Representative at Zimmer

Odd type of interview.

I have an odd type of interview coming up next week.

Corporate is most likely not renewing their contract with the distributorship whom I’m currently employed by. They claim they are still negotiating but the other dustributirship in the state have been “absorbed “.

The National head of US sales is meeting with all of the current sales reps next week. I assume these are one on one meetings.

My questions are. 1. Do you think this is just a meet and greet type of meeting ? 2. A meeting to get a feel of what we think about the current management or 3. Is this about my current roles / capabilities and how I will fit within the new company should it be formed.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Basically, it sounds like, they are meeting with everybody and trying to figure out what they have. And, possibly more importantly, what they don't have. After any type of merger/acquisition there are countless evaluations as to where there is redundancy, ambiguity, opportunity, etc. Major decisions have most likely been made and you just play along and wait and see. I would be prepared in case they sit you down and say "Joe, we're opening a new sales office in Point Barrow, Alaska. It will be just you. Oh, and the nearest bank is 40 miles away, 2 and 1/2 hours by dog sled and no direct deposit. Report immediately."

All of the above. Been through this before. Generally be honest, do research on the new company. Know their mission statement( should be on the website) be ready to answer tough questions, BUT DON'T throw your current management under the bus! That will only create distrust.

I have seen some new distributors are working on their new routes. It is not so daunting should the meeting of yours gone bad. Seriously, nobody is taking my distribution at threatening level. I have so much room to work with... I amazed myself sometimes.

In my opinion, it's about your current roles. Any written notes for the three questions would be useful. Nevertheless, be prepared for whatever shows up...You give the impression that you have self confidence and you are cool. The best of luck!

Most likely it is #3. The other two possibilities don't seem very common in the business world. Just be yourself and be positive.

I am not a fan of pre-worring. There is no way to know for sure until you meet with them and find out. I would however consider all scenarios and be prepared with an appropriate response to each so you are not caught off guard and have to decide something on the spot. Best of everything to you. You don't need luck sounds like you have the skills to plot your own course!

Joe it's a done deal absorb is the word. The question is will you guys stick together as a team or fold their tents? I think if you start calling the team and setting a leader or spokes person you all can survive and prosper. Harvey

I take it that you have worked there for some time. If you have been doing a good or great job all along I wouldn't worry, but be prepared to answer questions and if they ask what you can do for the company you will be ready with your answer.
