Not a Green Thumb

The Home Depot store near my house is still hiring workers for the home and garden departments. Is this job only for green thumb personalities? I haven’t applied because I don’t know the first thing about gardening but I really need a job. I do have previous retail experience though. Is this a good fit?

If you are the least bit interested, which it sounds like you are, go for it. They will teach you what you need to know. Let them know that you are interested in learning as much as possible and go for it.

Go for it! If you are willing to learn, they will teach you. You never know you might love gardening in the end.

Home Depot is a great place to work for. Wish I was still there. But, u don't have to have a green thumb to work on the gardening department. Go ahead and apply. A great company to work for

They will teach you what you need to know. Besides, look at this as an opportunity to learn new skills. The more important issues are can you get to work on time, can others work well with you, are you flexible, dependable, reliable, honest, respectful of and patient with customers? How are your customer relations skills? Are you authentic? How are your "soft skills" (are you emotionally stable)? These are the issues that are more important. Besides, you need something to get in the door. You may be hired for lawn & garden but that doesn't mean you have to stay there for the next 2 years. Get hired, and show them what you can do, you great professional person that you are. Now, go apply for and get that job. Everyone has to begin somewhere.

Hi Guy, Don't be concerned about not having any gardening experience because Home Depot will train you as long as you have good people skills and flexibility with your work schedule availability.
