Risky Opportunity that seems to be stalling.

Hello all,

I left the field of education to try to use my ABD in Business Management, sold everything I owned and moved to AZ. I have applied for many different jobs in many different industries. I went through three interviews with this one company that wants me to take over a start up and have even talked about incentives. The problem is that this has been a three week process without finalizing the numbers. I have been out of work since Jan. 26 and I was the only income so we are strapped. Should I risk it all on a start up that doesn’t seem to have it together or am I just reading into things?

Hi Sheri, Startup's are great, but like anything that isn't established, there are risks. I would just know that going in you might not be paid for a time. I would see how they're funded and keep your eyes open. Check out Angel.co for other Startup's that may be looking for someone with an educational background. There are many Ed Tech Startup's that exist as well which would be a great fit for you. So my advice is to be cautious. If it's a part-time find something else to supplement that income. Consider tutoring to help keep you afloat while you see how things work out at that company. All my best to you in your adventure! Keep looking forward.
