Hourly wage to live?
I live in PA, how much do you think a person needs to make an hour to be able to pay rent or mortgage, utilities, cell phone, groceries, but new clothes for self and kids maybe 2/3 times a year (start school, Fall/Winter, spring/Summer) not designer clothes, tv/internet, and own a decent used car and insurance/gas/upkeep to get to work and get around to shop, and maybe have a little fun once in a while?? Also is it worth it to go back to school at older age if you aren't making tons of money and have student loan to pay back? Does student loan go by how much you make as a living monthly or the same amount owed no matter what your income? My typing stunk years ago and I have no stomach changing adult diapers or cleaning up vomit as far as careers go? I wish all jobs were 9 to 5 m-f. I need a job now but also need to go back to school to hopefully make a livable wage while my stbx is still pay in bills. Kids live with me (16 & 11) daughter graduates in 3 years, son has 8 more years. Husband is still paying because of kids not me, he works nights and lives next door with his girlfriend, she's on social security for psychological reasons. I need financial Independence, cant depend on a man in future, I love men not a hater but need to be realistic, prince charming isn't coming around to help me pay bills, lol. Plus I have two kids. Has anyone on here had not a definite job path and taken a career test to see what would be good for them and it actually worked.
Would $18- $20/hour be a good guess?
As far as working or going to school, I think that's really something you have to figure out for yourself. If you think that going to school will help you get a better job than not doing it, then maybe that's better for you. But if you think going to school and not working is going to be difficult financially, you need to decide which is best.
A career assessment is a good idea! Capella university online. Yes they do go by how much u make. If u want to go back to school u should. U will learn as u go! Just ensure its a degree u can use and go volunteer to have the experience so its reflected upon your resume. I had some of the same issues 7 years ago. Two girls now grown and on there on. Went back for my masters and completed. Things worked out well!
