I am 16 years old looking for a job to help my mother take care of are family.
I have done office work at Temple University (Filed and copied papers, and completed audits)Ive also been a Camp Counselor at Norris Homes(Played board games and Sports)Im looking for more experience to things ive never tried or I hope I can find a job that will take for my experience.

Hi Izair - I grew up in Philadelphia, right near St. Joseph's University on City Avenue. My first jobs were babysitting and working at a deli. I would suggest checking out shopping centers like the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center. Walk in to each store and ask if they hire 16 year olds. I would also suggest volunteering. I volunteered at a few places to get experience so that I could talk about it when I was interviewing for jobs. It helps to build up your resume and show people why they should hire you. It also can be very rewarding. Good luck!!

Hello Izair, Thank you for being a part of our Jobcase community! I would recommend you take a look at local supermarkets, movie theaters, ice cream shops, and other fast food restaurants. These are places that typically hire teens and are great to gain some experience.
Best of luck to you!
Hey Izair, I went to school not far from where you are at Simon Gratz. Good to see another Philly kid reaching out on Jobcase.
If you’re already in school near to Temple - and have already worked there too - you’ve got a great advantage already. If you can, look into connecting locally at Temple for follow-up jobs. Temple may have good opportunities, and a Temple job can look great on a resume, and contacts, contacts, contacts! Do well at job in the Temple community and you can get some great contacts- a recommendation/reference from someone at Temple can be a big help you to get a great NEXT job.
If that makes sense to you, here's a starting point: You can check out the Center for Social Policy and Community Development (CSPCD). (details copied below) They work with young people (especially those from around the Temple area), have a range of programs, and can likely connect you with both a potential job and also training.
Specifically at CSPCD, check out the Youth Employment Project for youth ages 16.5 to 21. https://cspcd.temple.edu/youth-employment-project You can explore careers related to Information Technology (IT), Customer Service and Health Information Professions. Tech, tech, tech - a great area in which to get some skills that'll help you in many paths.
When you are ready, just call them up or email them, tell them where you live/go to school, and ask for some guidance on participating in one of their programs or if they can help you connnect to someone who can really advocate for you. Or hit em on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/yep.cspcd?ref=hl
Good luck and let us know how you do!
