Where’s the Trust?

My co-worker is being mistreated and purposely targeted for firing by our supervisor. There’s really no reason for the abuse because he’s a good worker and tries hard to keep to himself and just do his job. The shift supervisor has a personal vendetta against the poor guy because he’s a little odd looking and a foreigner. I overheard the supervisor on the phone the other day saying that he’s wants him out of the department by the end of the month. I want to step in and say something on my co-workers behalf but I’m afraid the hates going to turn on me too. Can a department like human resources be trusted with an anonymous complaint?

Bad Treatment or Bullying is unacceptable period. This is supposed to be a progressive first world country. Enough is enough, go to HR!!

If you and others heard a comment about or the supervisor has made reference to his nationality or race, as an excuse for harrassing him, that is actionable. He is in a protected group. No one deserves to be treated that way in the work place.

You could "anonymously" advise your co-worker to check out the website https://www.eeoc.gov/ ... However, I have to agree with the comment by Donaldson, unless you are independently wealthy then do not ever blindly trust your employer. Honor yourself by remaining kind and honest and be sure to tell the truth if you are ever served a subpoena. However, never trust HR, they will sacrifice you to save their own skin or even just to save a buck. Sadly, there is little honor left in the modern workplace. :-(

your job is more important than helping a co-worker out in such way, you can suggest to your fellow co-worker that he or she can go to higher authority if they feel the situation is that serious!(Yuou have to communicate with your employer(s) and build a good relationship) and they are in the right. Team player.)

HR can investigate if they have all of the facts and nothing is hearsay. If you call in on your co worker's behalf then he had to be willing to speak on the issue as well. Then there is also the possibility you may not know his whole story and he might be under investigation for something else. To fight for someone you must know everything you can about them and I think you lack the information to jump in right away and you need to definitely speak to your co worker first. It's kind of like trying to send someone on a blind date, you must first see if they ate even interested in dating at all.

Stay out of it! I understand that it’s unfair and your co-worker doesn’t deserve the mistreatment but let him speak up for himself. Open yourself up to offer any suggestions on how he can handle that problem if he asked but other than that stay out of it.
