Frustrated
I've been working with this temp agency for a little while now, in hopes that they can connect me with a potential employer in need of hiring someone. So while I've been working with them and applying to other jobs, I've also been doing babysitting so I'm not totally without money, but still, it's hard work and I need to move on to a new job. So the agency calls me on Wednesday and ask me if I'm available for an interview within two hours. I agree and quickly get ready, call an uber, etc. The interview went great, and the manager pretty much hired me on the spot and asked if I could start training the next day. She said that her current employee is constantly late, not doing the required tasks, etc and that I am to be her replacement. Later, when I get home I get another call from the agency informing me that the manager, whom I just had an interview with, requested that I come in on Monday instead. I agreed and was fine with it. The agency informed me they would call me on Friday (today) to let me know what time to come in on Monday. They didn't call me once, until I had to call them. They then told me "oh yeah sorry, we meant to call you this morning, and the manager said that she's going to give her current employee a second chance" So basically, I'm asked to wait for someone to screw up and only then can I get a chance to start the job. One I don't have time to wait and two I'm not liking this manager's way of thinking. Should I move on? I think yes.

Hello Richere, This is terrible business as I call it, I would say keep looking and if by chance you are available when they call you and you need to go, then and only then take it. Just remember that if this is how they handle things now , know what you will be getting in for later. Also note: I would change my recuritment team. Not professional either at the moment. Time is valuable and updated information in a timely fashion. Good luck!!! It will come.

I totally think yes too dear. Most people that are searching for jobs will gyrate towards the first thing that comes along. Thus running the risk of getting into a same situation as before or a new situation you then cannot get out of gracefully. This employer / employee thing is a two way street. Unfortunately most employers think they are the "big cheese..." and are in the drivers seat, but I bet to differ with all of them in this respect. I am not interested in his money, how big a house he has, or what sort of jet he rides in, I am interested in whether he has a place for me to be part of a money making machine, and do my work. No prospective employee should ever subject themself to a "cowed down" situation, or allow them to run rough-shod over you. You certainly have the rights to stand up....look them in the eye and say....NO. See ya...! For them to treat you like chattel.....is not a good sign or indication they will be any different when you were to get into the job. You are thinking sooooo right Richere. Hang in and go send out 100 resumes or 200. This is a numbers game my dear.
I would look for another agency as well. When I was with a temp agency they were watching contracts for expiration and setting up interviews ahead of time so I could move out of one job into another if needed since some were temp-to-hire. But most chose to stay with temp so it's not an employee after x days is due benefits situation.
With this current job I would say no thank you when this current problem employee pulls more shenanigans. You've already bent over backwards for them even before you were in the job proving you'd be a great employee. They chose to stay with sub-par, I'd let them live with that. I know a job is a job but I think you're better than being their doormat. I'm sorry this happened and fingers crossed that one door closing means a better one is just ahead and opening soon.
