Did i go back in time?
I just moved to the north Carolina about 3 weeks ago from new York. Currently staying in raeford until end of next month and then will be some what near sanford. I feel like I may have drove down here in the delorean and went back in time lol. In new York I was an independent contractor doing home remodeling. I've driven every neighbor in sanford, fayettville and raeford and I just don't see much promise for remodeling houses around here. I'm I wrong to think this? Seems like trying to get hired by a company is just as hard. They expect you to be extremely knowledgeable of the trade but the pay is so low I don't understand how these employers have such high expectations. Even for a simple property management job at an apartment complex i didn't qualify because i'm unable to speak Spanish. This is nuts to me.

It's more of the nut's.... It's Stupid,!!! And makes no sense,!!! What~Ever....

yes it's New Yorker I yes it's New Yorker I feel the same way there's a lot of new construction coming down Wake County which is in Raleigh you know people moving down here they said from New York Pennsylvania and New Jersey and this isn't even up to date 63 families a day so they're building a lot down here a year-and-a-half

If you think that's nuts to you you Oughta try being out here in the state of Oregon there are for real property owners that honestly expect you to do the repairs and the renovations solely at your own expense. Another dirty filthy undesirable Trickish stunt that they pull is they will hire you to do the work whether it's putting in a new floor installing new windows whatever the renovation is they then we'll turn around after the work is done and done in the matter that it meets with code they will say that they are unsatisfied with the work and because they are unsatisfied with the work you ain't going to get one freaking red penny for it and the sad thing about it is they manage to pull that even in the judicial system as You Haul them into court over it. Another filthiest stunts is managed to get a minimum of two weeks worth of work out of you saying that the payroll will be running two weeks behind meaning that you've got to give them 2 weeks credit. there has been many a times when the project was completed in a week and a half come payday you expect a paycheck and they've got some lollygagging excuse as to why you're not being paid the answer is simple they had no intention of paying you whatsoever. Or they falsify the books showing that you had been paid when in fact no money had changed hands at all. I had one customer that wanted his house painted this was many years ago the rates were appropriate for the size of the house a $3, 000 fee for painting the house which include the taping the trim work and the clean up afterwards. That thieving bastard handed me a $20 bill and a $10 bill and told me that the debt was paid in full. I'm looking at the finished job of a beautiful home that was correctly a painted and some jerk off telling me that the $30 cash that he gave me was the total payment of it then it got really ugly I thanked him for the payment didn't get into an argument with him over it my next recourse was to put a workman's lien upon his $350, 000 house which I did do, that leaving bastard ended up losing his home because he refused to pay the paint bill on it that's how I acquired my first 3 bedroom 2 bath 2 car garage for the pitiful amount of $3, 000 you should have seen and have heard his tirade in court when the judge ruled in favor he had no clue at all that such a thing would have ever happened let alone could happen to him. He was removed from the building its sat empty for a little while and I moved my widowed mother into it it's her home now and she is absolutely amazed that she has got a better quality home virtually free of any charges and that it was acquired for $3, 000 enclosing to those of you that are going to screw your contractor we are watched over and watched out for also we're not the ones who are going to lose it's going to be you feeding fools with your premeditated plans.

That's why theirs unions.

The problem is not with you, it is with them. Do not give up. Keep trying. Wish you all the best.

Try the big cities. Greensboro. Winston. Sanford is the pit of he-- in NC. If you're not from Sanford no one in that town would use you.

Don't give up things find a way of working out you know what you have to do find a solution and go for it but most importantly keep the faith God will help you along the way please let me know how it works out God bless you

The cost of living is much lower in North Carolina than it is in New York (City?), so, of course the pay is going to be much lower. If that's a deal breaker for you, then move back to New York sooner rather than later.

Johnny Fuhrman, things are quite different in NC. I am from a very small town called Oriental, NC. There is no lights in the city. There is only a couple of stop signs. It is a very quaint town that is right on the Neuse River which is off the Atlantic Ocean. However, things move very slow and the pace is very slow.
It is definitely going to be a culture shock for you. As far as home improvement, most people in the smaller towns are used to dealing with people that they have known for a looonnnggg time!!! You will need to get settled in and be ready to get to know the people, the culture and their way of doing things. It may quite a bit of time to do this because they are normally not in a rush.
You may want to become a member of the different groups such as auxilliary, church and civic. Getting into the groups gives you exposure and allows you to get to know the people and how they do things. Be patient and stay prayed up!!! Be Blessed and Highly Favored!!!
Thanks
